Silver and Gold

I know I've mentioned I switched up my holiday decor this year.  That has meant all sorts of new holiday decorations.  I'm super excited about it.  I'm also in love with decorating our mantle.  This is the second year we've lived in our house so my second year having a mantle to decorate.  Last year I did the whole lighted garland thing.  Nothing major.
Ignore the fact that it's a bad picture, it's from my phone.

This year I knew I wanted it to be different.  The first big change was the color.  Away with burgundy.  The pinkish couch is gone, replaced by a chocolate brown one.  The built ins are painted turquoise in the back.  It was time for new Christmas colors too.  I wanted to stick with the gold since I had so much of it.  So I replaced the burgundy with silver and a touch of cream.

And here we go, Christmas in 2012....
Here's the whole thing....

New cream colored stockings with silver jeweled monograms.  Love it!  Stockings came from Target this year, the monograms are actually ornaments that I just safety pinned on.

Mini Christmas trees and a silver and gold confetti canvas.  The small tree is from JoAnn's, it's a little paper mache tree that I covered in the big confetti.  The gold tree is made out of a school folder, gold scrapbook paper, and wrapped with cream yarn.  The big silver tree is just silver glittery scrapbook paper I made into a cone.  The canvas is a white canvas that I painted with white shimmery paint then added the silver and gold confetti with paint.
More of the same.  Mini Christmas trees and another confetti canvas. The small Christmas tree is covered in leftover fleece blanket that I made my Christmas tree skirt with.  The silver and gold glittery trees are bot just scrapbook paper I made into cones.
And the tree, a little closer because it's pretty.  Someday I'm going to have to suck it up and buy a better tree.  It's a sad little tree I bought in college for $15.  So, what's on it?  Lots and lots of white lights, none of this pre-lit business.  Gold ball ornaments.  Gold icicles.  Silver and gold snowflakes.  Gold stars.  Then there's a couple random ornaments we've bought over the years.

Is your house all decorated for the holidays?  Are your presents wrapped and under the tree already?  Or maybe you're like me and didn't start Christmas shopping until this past weekend and you're still trying to recover from the horror.  Do you stay with the same colors and them every year or do you switch it up?

    1. Thanks! They were easier to make than I thought. I just rolled the card stock/old school folder, hot glued it and then cut the bottom to make it sit flat.

    1. Thank you so much! The ornaments on the stockings were totally my plan when I bought the ornaments. The M is actually a W that I hung upside. They were out of M's.
